Finacea gel is a medicine used to treat pimples, spots and redness that are associated with the skin conditions, rosacea and mild to moderate acne.
What is Finacea Gel?
Finacea Gel is a type of aqueous gel that contains an important and naturally-occurring ingredient: azelaic acid, which can be found in rye, wheat and barley. It also belongs to a class of medications that are referred to as dicarboxylic acids. This ingredient has anti-inflammatory and anti-microbial properties which helps treat skin conditions such as rosacea and acne.
Rosacea is a type of skin condition that makes your blood vessels visible and red. This condition can also cause pus-filled bumps which can flare up for weeks up to months. It takes a while for it to go away. On the other hand, acne is a skin condition where hair follicles on your face becomes plugged with dead skin cells and oil. It is one of the most common conditions that can affect people, regardless of their age. It can appear on the forehead, face, chest, upper back and shoulders.
Since azelaic acid can be found in Finacea Gel, it is an effective treatment against skin conditions. Each package of Finacea Gel contains a white to yellowish white opaque gel. A gram of this gel contains 0.15 gm of azelaic acid, lecithin, medium-chain triglycerides, polysorbate 80. Disodium EDTA, propylene glycol, sodium hydroxide and purified water. People using this need to be aware that Finacea Gel is intended for topical treatment of pustules of mild to moderate rosacea and inflammatory papules.
How does Finacea Gel work?
The azelaic acid found in the Finacea Gel is the key to treating skin conditions. It does this by reducing the growth of the keratin surface skin cells that block out pores. The active ingredient unblocks these said out pores. As a result, the sebum that is trapped in the sebaceous glands are released. You can now say goodbye to spots and blackheads that have littered your skin.
Not only does the active ingredient in the Finacea Gel unblock pores, it also kills bacteria that is associated with acne, which is scientifically known as propionebacterium acnes. The bacteria feed on the sebum that are produced by the sebaceous glands. Inside these glands, waste products and fatty acids are produced. This is what causes the inflammation and pimples to appear on your face.
The sebum is the food source of the bacteria. By reducing the amounts produced, the azelaic acid restricts the growth of the bacteria. This keeps inflammation and spots under control, which allows the skin to heal over time.
